Hope of Refuge by Cindy Woodsmall is a great story about what happens when two cultures, two worlds collide. When Cara's mother needed to escape, she went to the safe and loving Amish community, taking little Cara with her. Twenty years later when Cara, herself, needs to run, she and her daughter return to that Amish community. Cara, as a woman of the Englischer world, poses a threat to the Amish culture, but she has one friend and ally -- Ephraim who remembers her -- and her family's secrets -- when her mother brought her to the community as a child.
